The Sacajawea Elementary Tree Project
Due to road improvements, a large madrona tree across from Sacajawea Elementary must be removed. I will work with the community to use the wood in creating an artwork that honors this historic tree.
The tentative plan is for an artwork made up of multiple small elements and located in several places around the school and the neighborhood. Because madrona decays quickly, pieces made from the wood will be installed indoors, while related pieces made of more durable material will be in a public location outdoors. The project will take 1-2 years to complete and there will several opportunities for the community to participate--starting with the survey below. |
Neighborhood Navigation Survey
Your input is an important part of the design process! Please consider filling out the survey below.
At this early stage I'm especially interested in hearing about how you find your way around the neighborhood, and in the aspects of the neighborhood you notice or enjoy--whether they they are natural or manmade, temporary or permanent, positive or negative. This information may be used to develop imagery and to explore possible sites for outdoor installation. You can also use the blanks below to share any other stories or information you'd like me to hear.
Thank you!
